How do we get data?

To understand data, we need to understand what happens to data before it becomes facts and information in a table.

Here is a short video we made during Halloween and trick o treating to show the process of obtaining facts and information.

As we discuss in our video What is Data, data is collected by observing, asking questions and taking measurements. There are a few steps in the process of obtaining data:

1. Data Collection
2. Data Sorting or Processing
3. Data Reporting
4. Data Analysis

The final step of data analysis includes graphs and charts to build an interesting data story that will inform and inspire action.
