There are over 8 million animal species on our planet. In this excercise we will create a bar chart to see which are the top ten most populous animals in the world.

Our data table lists the top ten most populous animals with the largest number at the top. Based on this data we will create a bar chart:

There are almost 1.5 milllion cows in the world!

Things to know about bar charts:

  • Bar charts look best if you already sort your data table by largest to smallest or by smallest to largest
  • Bar charts are great to compare different categories
  • Bar charts are the easiest charts to read and understand data
